& Fall Class Schedule:
Currently there are 5 different sewing lessons being
offered.
Beginner
Sewing Class
4 classes once a week
Night classes 6:10pm -7:40pm (nights vary)
Saturdays 10am - 11:30am (days vary)
$95 for the four weeks
Class Max: Five people to ensure personalized attention
Class For: Someone who has no sewing experience with a sewing machine
The goal of this
sewing class:
- To give you a basic understanding of the world of sewing and teach
you the skills to sew on your own
- Learn how to thread a sewing machine
- Learn
how to wind bobbin thread
- Learn about the different types of thread
- Learn about the different needles and pins
- Learn how to change the needle on a sewing machine
- Cover the basics of several important sewing tools
- Learn how to straight stitch, zigzag, curved and other basic stitches
- Briefly talk about fabrics that would be best for your projects.
- Learn several tips that will make the whole sewing process much easier
Projects we will make in this class:
Basic Throw Pillow Cover & Tote Bag
Advanced Beginner Sewing Class
5 classes once a week

Class Max: Four people to ensure personalized attention
Class For: Someone who wants to learn how to use store bought patterns.
Someone
who has basic sewing skills and can thread and wind a bobbin on a sewing
machine.
The goal of
this sewing class:
- Introduction to store bought patterns
- Learn how to read a pattern
- Learn the terminology used in patterns
- Learn the technique of cutting out your pattern and how to account
for seam allowance
- Learn the skill of pattern placement on fabric
- Learn the skill of putting pattern pieces together
- Learn about the different types of thread, needles and pins
- Learn about different types of fabric that would be best for your
projects
- Learn about the grain of the fabric and which way to place your pattern
on the fabric
- Will learn several tips that will make the whole sewing process much
easier
This class delves
into the world of store bought patterns. By dissecting the patterns
you will come away with a better understanding of how to select the
right fabric for
your project, how to read a pattern and how to put pattern pieces together.
Projects we will
make in this class:
You will have a choice of a few basic patterns to work from.
Patterns will be provided.
Intermediate
Sewing Classes

Class For: Someone who has some previous experience working with patterns
but is interested in understanding them better. Someone who has basic
sewing
skills and knows how to thread and wind a bobbin on their own machine.
This is a good class to explore clothing construction.
The goal of
this sewing class:
- To delve deeper into the world of store bought patterns
- Learn how to find patterns for your projects in the store
- All clothing patterns come in different sizes, learn how to find the
right size for you
- Learn how to read a pattern, both the package as well as material
inside
- Learn how to care for and tune your sewing machine
- Touch upon the Psychology of Color
- Discuss fabrics as they pertain to your projects
- Work outside of class on your projects:
to challenge yourself
to learn how to trouble shoot on your own
to gain more experience and practice
- Learn several hand stitching techniques that will add in clothing
construction or with other projects
- Will learn finishing details to make garments look more professional
The Projects we
will make in this class:
You will have a choice of a few different craft and clothing patterns
to work from.
Patterns will be provided.
Summer
Sarongs
3 classes from 6:10-7:45
$75 for the three weeks
Class Max: Four people to ensure personalized attention
Class For: Someone who wants to practice working with a pattern to make
a
beautiful skirt. For someone who has basic knowledge of their sewing
machine
and has basic sewing skills. Familiarity with different fabric is a
plus.
Must bring their own machine to class.
The goal of
this class:
-To graze the surface and get a taste of store bought patterns
-Will learn what thread, needles and fabric is best to use while creating
our sarongs
-Will learn finishing details to make the skirts look more professional
-This is a perfect class that is quick, fun and inspirational.
-This knowledge you can carry with you into other projects.
The Project you
will make in this class:
Saronge - Pattern will be provided
In this class we
focus more on the construction of the skirt than on the pattern itself.
I’d suggest the advanced beginner class if you really want to
learn how to use a pattern.
Summer
Beach Bags
3 classes from 6:10-7:45
$75 for the 3 weeks
Class Max: Four people to ensure personalized attention
Class For: Someone who wants to practice working with a pattern to make
a great Beach Bag! For someone who has basic knowledge of their sewing
machine and has basic sewing skills. Familiarity with different fabric
is a plus.
Must bring their own machine to class.
The goal of
this class:
To graze the surface and get a taste of store bought patterns
-Will learn what thread, needles and fabric is best to use while creating
our Beach Bags
-Will learn finishing details to make the bags look more professional
-This is a perfect class that is quick, fun and inspirational.
-This knowledge you can carry with you into other projects.
The Project you
will make in this class:
Beach Bag - Pattern will be provided
In this class we
focus more on the construction of the bag than on the pattern itself.
I’d suggest the advanced beginner class if you really want to
learn how to use a pattern.
Refresher
Sewing Class
- Because life is hectic and sometimes we don’t get to sew as
frequently as we’d like.
Are you stuck trying to remember how to wind the bobbin thread, can’t
figure out why your bobbin thread is getting tangled, why the thread
keeps braking, just bought a new machine and don’t know how to
use it, or wondering why things just aren’t going smoothly? Then
this class is for you. Come in with your questions and we’ll get
you back in the swing of things.
Two hour class: $30.
Class max: 4
Custom
Sewing Lessons
If you are interested in sewing and have something specific you are
interested in learning send me an e-mail. Others may also be interested
in what you want to learn and I may be able to put a class together.
Class Days:
Night Classes:
Are always weeknights from 6:10pm-7:40pm. The class nights will be the
same day for the whole session but each class varies on the night from
month to month. Please call to find out what nights the class you are
interested in is being offered.
Saturday Classes:
These classes are from 10am-11:30am. Please call to find out when Saturday
classes are running
Class Structure:
— Class size is always small with 3-5 people in most classes.
This insures you get the personal attention you need to get you sewing.
— Most times individuals are placed in classes with those of similar
ages and experience levels.
— Choose which class you are interested in taking. If you need
help, I can help place you in a class with those who are at your same
experience level
.
Cost Covers:
Use of sewing machines, practice fabric, rulers, scissors, marking tools,
interfacing, tracing paper, thread, needles, pins, muslin, patterns
for some classes and tracing wheels. It is encouraged, if you have a
machine to bring it. It is more advantageous to learn on your own machine
since this is the one you will use in the future.
It is always encouraged
to express and share your creativity, to bounce ideas off one another
and ask any questions you have. If you are working on a different project
at home and have questions, I will try to help.
If you are interested in other areas of sewing let me know, we may be
able to work it into a class or I can offer another.
